Torbjörn Helander is a Swedish violist, composer and arranger. Since 1996 he has been a member of the Kungliga Hovkapellet, the orchestra of the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm. Alongside his long career in orchestral and chamber music, he is also active as a composer in his own right, with a body of work that includes chamber pieces, songs, ballet music and opera.

His opera Taro premiered at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm in 2022. Music for dance theatre forms a significant part of his output as well: he has collaborated, for instance, with choreographer Gunnlaugur Egilsson, and in 2017 created the arrangement and orchestration of music by Alexander Glazunov for the full-length ballet Manon, choreographed by Filip Veverka for the ballet company of the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen (DJKT).

In 2026, the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm hosted the premiere of his orchestral work Time Weave, composed to mark the 500th anniversary of the Kungliga Hovkapellet.

In recognition of his many years of artistic service with the Kungliga Hovkapellet, Torbjörn Helander was awarded a gold medal for 25 years of service, presented in the presence of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.
