Naia Dobrota was born in Atlanta, United States, with family roots in Slovenia. She began dancing in Singapore at L’Académie de Danse, from where her path led to Paris. She completed her training at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (2018-2023).
Already during her studies, she worked with major choreographers, including Merce Cunningham, Trisha Brown, Boris Charmatz, Goyo Montero, François Mauduit, and Julien Guérin. She further developed her training through prestigious international internships and workshops in Paris, Monaco, Zurich, Lyon, and Vienna.
In the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 seasons, she was a member of the Bayerisches Junior Ballett München in Munich under the artistic direction of Ivan Liška, while also holding a scholarship with the Bayerisches Staatsballett. There she performed in John Cranko’s Onegin and Romeo and Juliet, Pierre Lacotte’s La Sylphide, Peter Wright’s Giselle, Patrice Bart’s La Bayadère, Christopher Wheeldon’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Cinderella, Pina Bausch’s The Rite of Spring, and John Neumeier’s Illusionen - wie Schwanensee and Bach Suite III.
From the 2025/2026 season, she was a member of Gauthier Dance JUNIORS at Theaterhaus Stuttgart, where she expanded her repertoire with works by Ohad Naharin, Marco Goecke, Eric Gauthier, Alejandro Cerrudo, Barak Marshall, and other major contemporary choreographers.
In 2024, she performed as a guest soloist at the gala of the Slovenian dance seminar DANCS-Piran, where she appeared in La Dame aux Camélias and Paquita.
She is a laureate of several international dance competitions. She won the European pre-selection round of the Prix de Lausanne (2021) and advanced to the semi-finals of that prestigious competition in 2022. At the Concours International de Danse Classique de Grasse in France, she won a gold medal (2015), 1st honorable mention (2014), and 3rd honorable mention (2013).
Since the 2026/2027 season, Naia Dobrota has been a member of NDM Ballet as corps de ballet with soloist obligations.
