Andrea Helander Kramešová is a Czech ballet artist and pedagogue, currently based in Stockholm, where she works as a full-time classical ballet teacher at the Royal Swedish Ballet School.
She is a graduate of the Dance Conservatory in Prague and, during her studies, attended international summer dance schools in Cologne (Germany) and Pertuis (France). In 2000, she won First Prize at the Ballet Competition in Brno, Czech Republic, together with the Best Artistic Creation Award.
Her professional dancing career began with the Czech National Ballet at the National Theatre in Prague, where she danced from 1999 to 2003. She subsequently spent two years with Tulsa Ballet in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This was followed by four seasons with the ballet company of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, where she appeared as a soloist, performing extensively in choreographies by Youri Vámos. Among her notable roles there were Juliet (Romeo and Juliet), Helena (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), the Bride and Groom (Giselle), Clara (The Nutcracker), and the title role in The Jewess of Toledo.
From the 2009/2010 season, Andrea was engaged with the Royal Swedish Ballet in Stockholm, where she was soon cast as Swanilda in Coppélia. During this period, she also appeared as a guest artist at the Prague State Opera, performing roles such as Odette/Odile in Swan Lake and Anastasia in The Sleeping Beauty – The Tsar’s Last Daughter.
In 2012, Andrea returned to the Czech National Ballet, where she became a principal dancer and concluded her stage career. Her repertoire of leading roles includes Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and The Snow Queen. In addition to the classical canon, she performed solo roles in works by choreographers such as Jiří Kylián, Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin, Jacopo Godani, George Balanchine, Uwe Scholz, Petr Zuska, Nacho Duato, Youri Vámos, John Cranko, and Thierry Malandain.
Since 2014, Andrea has been actively engaged in teaching, regularly giving company classes at the Czech National Ballet and other companies in the Czech Republic, coaching private students, and teaching masterclasses internationally. In 2020, she completed her academic studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Dance Studies.
Andrea currently lives in Stockholm and works full-time at the Royal Swedish Ballet School. She is also a regular guest coach with the Royal Swedish Ballet.
