Viktor Konvalinka was born in 1984 in Prague. After graduating from the Prague Dance Conservatory in 2004, he joined the National Theatre in Prague as a member of the ballet company. In 2005, he was appointed a demi-soloist, and the subsequent year, he was promoted to soloist. His repertoire includes not only great classical roles, such as Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet, Abderahman in Raymonda, Iago in Othello, Laurence in Petr Zuska's Romeo and Juliet, Lensky in the ballet Onegin by the world-famous choreographer John Cranko or the Prince in the ballet Cinderella by Jean-Christophe Maillot, but also the works of choreographers such as Jiří Kylián, Mats Ek, Uri Ivgi & Johan Greben, Ohad Naharin, and Jacobo Godani.
In addition to his interpretive work at the National Theatre in Prague, he has also worked as a choreographer. For the choreographic Miniatures (staged at the Estates Theatre and Laterna magika), he conceived the choreographies called To nepochopíš … (You Won’t Understand It …), Tři pro solo (Three for Solo) or Pražské Hytérium (Prague Mystery), Ultimo, Jak100hoven and Just Solo, which he also staged at the 2014 Gala of Daria Klimentová in Prague. In 2014, Viktor Konvalinka and Tomáš Červenka created a choreography for the Czech National Ballet in Prague called GURU. The music for this piece was composed by the Czech composer Jan Jirásek. It was performed at the National Theatre as a part of the triptych Czech Ballet Symphony II.
In 2009, Viktor and his two colleagues founded their own dance company called DEKKADANCERS, where he had the opportunity to act as both a choreographer and a dancer. Their works include, for instance, Umíněnost ztracených, Pakkáž, Port 9, Kill de Bill, Timing, and Cave and Creatures. They received an Award for Humour in Choreography for their piece Dekka pod dekou for Bohemia Ballet at the 2011 Contemporary Dance Competition in the Czech Republic.
Viktor then joined the Swedish dance company Norrdans in August 2015, where he worked with many choreographers such as Mats Ek, Mari Carassco, Jo Strømgren, Fernando Mělo, Roy Assaf, Tina Tarpgaard, Martin Forsberg, Kartin Hall, and Simone Grøtte. For Norrdans, Viktor created two choreographies: Clash 11 (2018) and Lilla Magellanksa Molnet (2018).
In 2019, he left Norrdans and became a freelancer with the support of the Swedish company Dansalliansen. Nowadays, he also collaborates with 420 People and BURKI&com in the Czech Republic. He has also returned to work with DekkaDancers as a Dancer and Choreographer. In January 2022, he joined Skånes Dansteater as a dancer for the project Mitridate. During the same year, Viktor also commenced working with Bobbi Lo Production.
