Tenor Steven Harrison makes his role and house debut with Chicago Opera Theatre in Giuseppe Verdi’s “Giovanna d’Arco” as Carlo, il Re. In addition, this season he will sing Hagenbach in Catalani’s “La Wally” in the Czech Republic.
Some career highlights include the 200th anniversary of Brussels' famed Theatre La Monnaie, starring in Il Prigioniero conducted by Antonio Pappano. New productions at the Düsseldorf Deutsche Oper am Rhein include the leading tenor roles in Carmen, Cavalleria Rusticana, Norma, La Wally, Faust, Fidelio, Les Troyens, and others. He has appeared with New York City Opera, Washington National Opera, the Florida Grand Opera, Baltimore Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Leipzig Opera, Teatro Colon Buenos Aires, Prague National, Australia and many others, in Un Ballo in Maschera, Werther, Andrea Chenier, Rigoletto, Aida, La Boheme, Tosca, Madama Butterfly etc. Concert performances include Verdi’s Requiem at New York's Lincoln Center and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with conductors Antonio Pappano (Santa Cecilia, Rome), Mikhail Pletnev (Moscow), and Gunther Härbig (Taipei). As well as Szymanowski Symphony #3 for tenor in Germany.
In 2010 he recreated the title role in the opera Chopin (both as tenor and on-stage pianist) in Poland celebrating the 200th anniversary year of the great composer’s birth. The CD recording was awarded “Album of the Year”.
