Soprano Hyun Yi Kim was born and raised in South Korea. At age 13, she won the Grand Award at the Korea Ministry of Culture Nationwide Student Music Competition. She graduated from Ewha Woman’s University with both her Bachelor and first Master’s degree. Starting her professional career even before graduating, she performed as Giannetta alongside her professor in L’elisir d’Amore. She starred as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, and later Papagena in another production of Die Zauberflöte. When participating in a national tour of the opera, she sang both roles showcasing her lyrical yet bright, versatile voice. Hyun Yi Kim moved to the United States and received her second Master’s degree in 2013 from Manhattan School of Music. She is performing on various stages as a professional singer in New York.
