Lasse Penttinen studied first trumpet and later singing at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and also in Vienna. He debuted in the Vienna Chamber Opera and at the festival Nivala Summer Opera. The world premiere of the opera Döbeln by Sebastian Fagerlund in Kokkola Opera (Finland) where Lasse Penttinen played three roles, is documented with a CD recording. In 2009 he got engagement in the Theatre Aachen where he performed as Monostatos in The Magic Flute, doctor Caius in Falstaff and Father in the world premiere of the Philipp Maintz opera Maldoror presented at the Munich Biennial 2010. He was a guest at Bielefeld, in the Folk Opera Vienna, in Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and in Basel. Since the season 2010/11, Lasse Penttinen is a member of the Darmstadt State Theatre ensemble where, besides others, he appeared as Mime in The Rhine Gold and Siegfried. At present he can be seen at this stage in the role of Doctor in Manfred Gurlitt´s Wozzeck and in the roles of Prologue and Quint in Britten´s The Turn of the Screw.
