The well-known Irish dramatist will take us to times and places long past. An itinerant carnival is travelling from village to village and the biggest attraction is the boxing ring with its star Dean. He always challenges someone from the onlookers and then he either lays them down softly or punches them hard in the face. But then a seller of apples appears and it looks like things will take a different turn... The author’s perspective is kind and humorous, full of understanding for the peculiar characters. The reminiscing about the passing world is touching. But Roche would not be a true Irishman if he had not used some black humour. Besides thrilling boxing matches you can look forward to a pretty tangled love story.
