Pavel Vilikovský is one of the most expressive personalities of contemporary Slovakian literature. The main character of a “journal novel”, with its knowingly ironic title, is the prototype of an “ordinary” man, who is characterized by his conformity, poor judgement and inclination to overestimate himself.  The insight into the world of this protagonist, the company he works for, and his family, presents a very precise, and at the same time funny, image of a “real” man in a broader context.  Petit private history mingles together with the big history of society.  The hero, dragged by existential power, longs for happiness and success more and more, and so does not notice the foolish moves he makes. Journey into the depth of the “normalized” (not exclusively) Slovakian soul, or what must happen that your wife, nor mistress and nor even secret police cares about you.
