The work The Sofa was created by Itzik Galili nearly 30 years ago and has been performed worldwide since then. The choreographer’s challenge was to create a burlesque sketch in the spirit of cabaret that would hold up a mirror to society. By provoking mixed feelings of unease, amusement, and pleasure, it reveals itself as a brilliant gem. A humorous and touching duet with a sofa—and a twist...
