After a ten-year break, the Year of Czech Music will be held again in 2014, commemorating anniversaries of significant Czech composers, whose life path was defined by number four in the dates of birth and death. Apart from Bedřich Smetana (1824-1884), Leoš Janáček (1854-1928) and Josef Suk, mainly Antonín Dvořák (1841-1904) belongs among these authors, while 110 years will elapse since his death on 1 May 2014.
The National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in cooperation with the Czech Radio will pay tribute to Dvořák's legacy with a six-hour marathon on the day of the composer's death, during which the complete Dvořák’s song work with piano accompaniment will be heard in four hour sessions with three breaks ( 15.00-16.00 , 16.30-17.30 , 18.00-19.00 , 19.30-20.30 ). The project will be performed in the building of the Antonín Dvořák Theatre, the world's only opera scene carrying Dvořák's name.

The basic principle of the project is to present all ninety- four songs in the original version, whether in critical editions or manuscripts in the original languages: in addition to the songs composed on Czech texts, the program will cover several works originally composed for German texts |
