After the Nutcracker and the Swan Lake the ballet company offers to its audience the last of the trio of the famous ballet works by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840 – 1893), a giant of Russian music. Despite its libretto being based on The Sleeping Beauty, the well-known fairy-tale by a French writer Charles Perrault about a princess who pricks her finger on a rose and falls asleep for a long time together with the whole kingdom, the ballet is far from being intended just for children. The audience of any age can find something for them - beautiful music, poetry, grace of classical dance or reminiscences of the eternal human belief that good does win over evil.

The Sleeping Beauty is a ballet work whose quality and value has been proved by time. Since January 1890, its première in the Mariinsky Theatre in Sankt Peterburg, it has constantly been coming back to the stages of ballet theatres all around the world. It is coming back to Ostrava after sixteen years.
