The men are gone fishing and the women waiting for them pass their time by chatting, quarreling and gossiping. When the fishermen come home, a series of conflicts with outbursts of jealousy, spitefulness and invented tales is sparked, well - a pretty crazy commotion. Carlo Goldoni wrote The Chioggia Scuffles in the prime of his creative life. Goldoni used his own memories of his youth when he worked as a clerk in an Italian village.

 “The story takes place in the first half of 18th century but we wanted to avoid the time of rococo so we set it in the first half of 20th century, which surprisingly fits well - the penniless are preoccupied with the same matters in all times,” says Janusz Klimsza. And as it is typical of him, Klimsza does not just give way to a crazy fooling around but he focuses on the relationships between the characters and their motivation for acting in a certain way. All this even more emphasizes the comicality of the situations and word battles.

The stage set created by Martin Víška and costumes designed by Eliška Zapletalová will remind the audience of Italian films from the time of neorealism. Marek Pivovar is the script editor and the music has been written by Nikos Engonidis.
