    To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of significant Czech writer Bohumil Hrabal, you can enjoy the dramatization of his famous novel Cutting it Short.

Through the character Maryška – his mother – the author recollects his childhood, which he spent at the brewery in Nymburk. The dramatization also partly depicts a picture of the first republic, which is, typically for Hrabal, very poetic, humorous, and sensual. Czech clichés are elevated to the sphere of beauty – beer, women, pig-slaughter, chimney, or loud uncle Pepin.

It is a Czech classic of the second half of the 20th century adapted to the stage by Jiří Janků and Petr Svojtka.
