This is an epic historical story about the popular Austrian Empress. Sissi is pictured as a modern woman - independent, confident, educated and beautiful, but also lonely, frustrated and hurting. A portrait of a woman who was not only gifted and widely admired, but who was at the same time simply a human in her defencelessness and her failing attempts to conform with the strict atmosphere of the royal court and her puritanical mother-in-law Sophie. These factors all contributed to the devastating consequences for her marriage and her children.
