Mezzo-soprano Monika Jägerová studied singing privately with Pavla Zumrová. She attended masterclasses with Emma Kirkby (Dartington International Summer School, 2015), Chantal Santon Jeffery and Deda Cristina Colonna (Académie Versailles, 2018), Markéta Cukrová, and Lorenzo Charoy (International Summer School of Early Music, Valtice, 2015).
In 2016, Monika won the International Singing Competition Pražský pěvec. In 2017, she received an honorable mention at the International Singing Competition Iuventus Canti (Vráble, Slovakia) and was a finalist in the Renata Tebaldi International Voice Competition in San Marino. In 2019, Monika won 3rd prize in the Song category at the Antonin Dvorak's International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary. She also studied violin at the Jan Deyl Conservatory in Prague and musicology at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, specializing in 17th- and 18th-century music. Monika is represented by Nachtigall Artists agency.
Monika made her debut on the Czech opera stage in 2017 as Mrs. Quickly (Verdi: Falstaff) at the Silesian Theatre in Opava, where she later performed as the Rooster (Janáček: The Cunning Little Vixen) and Háta (Smetana: The Bartered Bride). In the 2018/2019 season, she debuted at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava in Puccini’s Il trittico, performing the roles of La Zia Principessa (Suor Angelica) and Zita (Gianni Schicchi). She subsequently portrayed the Old Slovak Woman (Janáček: Osud), the Castellan (Křička: The Lord in White or No Haunts left for Ghosts), and Barbara/Sofia Petrovna (Krása: Betrothal in a Dream). In 2022, Monika debuted at the National Theatre Brno as Bradamante in Händel’s Alcina, directed by Jiří Heřman and conducted by Václav Luks. At the Bergen National Opera in 2021, she performed as the Third Wood Nymph in Dvořák’s Rusalka in a production by the Spanish theatre group La Fura dels Baus. At Teatro Verdi in Trieste (2016), Monika participated in an international production of Britten’s The Little Sweep as Mrs. Baggot.
Monika is deeply dedicated to the interpretation of early music, regularly collaborating with ensembles such as Collegium 1704, Czech Ensemble Baroque, Hof-musici, and Ensemble Damian. In 2019, Monika performed at the Oude Muziek Festival in Utrecht with Ensemble Tourbillon. At the Castle Baroque Theatre in Český Krumlov, she appeared as Timante (Hasse: Demofoonte, 2019), for which she was shortlisted for the 2020 Thalia Award. At the Olomouc Baroque Festival, she performed as Gloria (Vivaldi: La Gloria e Imeneo, 2018) and Giove (Ditters von Dittersdorf: Il Tribunale di Giove, 2019). At the Vadstena Summer Opera Festival, Sweden, Monika performed the role of Ascalax (Telemann: Orpheus, 2019).
