logoInformace
Philoctetes participated in the first Greek war to conquer Troy. However, he was bitten by a poisonous snake. The venom did not kill him, but the wound never healed.  For this reason Odysseus lured him to a deserted island where he left him. A prophecy foretold that Troy may be conquered only after Paris is killed by Philoctetes’s bow which never missis its target. Therefore Odysseus and Achilles’s son Neoptolemus approach the island in order to gain Philoctetes’s bow. Their plan is successful and Neoptolemus tries to persuade Philoctetes to return with them and to conquer Troy. Eventually, Heracles himself appears in front of Philoctetes and makes him forget the wrongs and go to win the war glory.

Performed in Czech with English subtitles.

In coproduction with the Opera of National Theatre Prague
