María Lovero was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she received her ballet training. She studied at the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón (ISATC) ballet school from 2000 until 2006 and subsequently honed her skills by studying with renowned private teachers Katta Gallo, Silvia Bazilis, and Raúl Candal.

At the age of 15, María joined the Argentine Iñaki Urlezaga’s group Ballet Concierto as a soloist. She was the first soloist to perform with this company under the direction of its director Iñaki Urlezaga, performing in theatres around the world and at many major festivals. In 2008, she gained an engagement with Julio Bocca's Ballet Argentino as a prima ballerina under the direction of Sara Nieto and Lidia Segni. In the 2009/2010 season, María joined the Santiago Ballet of the Chilean National Opera under the direction of Marcia Haydée as a soloist and subsequently rose to the position of principal dancer.

Throughout her career, María has worked with internationally renowned choreographers, ballet masters, and teachers as diverse as Tom Bosma, Egon Madsen, Rolando D' Alesio, Oscar Araiz, Marcia Haydée, Urtzi Aranburu, Piotr Nardelli, Lyn Vella-Gatt, and others.

She portrayed leading roles from a wide range of repertoire, i.e., Odile in Swan Lake choreographed by M. Haydée, Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, and Olga in Onegin by J. Cranko. María also danced in choreographies by Sir K. MacMillan's Mayerling, F. Ashton's Symphonic Variations, G. Balanchine's Serenade, P. Schaufuss' La Sylphide, J. Kylián's Petite Mort, M. Bigonzetti's Cantata, and many others.

María participated in international competitions and won awards as follows: Silver Medal at the Joinville Dance Festival in Brazil (2005) and Gold Medal at the Danzamerica International Competition in Argentina (2004). Moreover, in 2014, María was awarded the Chilean Cruce de los Andes Award in recognition of her rich and successful creative career and for her contribution to culture and integration between Argentina and Chile.
