MAXWELL DAVIES - BIOGRAPHY

Maxwell grew up in Kobe, Japan. He received a scholarship to study at ABS Tokyo Ballet School and joined the ABC-Tokyo Ballet Company. Maxwell portrayed several leading roles during his time in Tokyo e.g., Albrecht in Giselle, Siegfried and Rothbart in Swan Lake, Conrad in Le Corsaire and Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet.

At the 2022 Youth Grand Prix (YGP) competition in Japan he ranked among the top twelve dancers, and was invited to the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) competition. These awards earned him scholarships to the English National Ballet School and the Norwegian National Ballet School.

 

Since joining the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in the 2023/2024 season, Maxwell Davies has taken on solo roles in both classical and neoclassical repertoire, including the role of Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake and a duet in Justin Peck's Heatscape.

In 2023, he was nominated for the Jantar Award for his portrayal of Prince Siegfried in the Swan Lake (choreographed by Youri Vámos, premiered on 16 November 2023). In the role of Siegfried, Maxwell Davies convincingly portrays a conflicted young man—a soul tormented by a complex relationship with his mother and unfulfilled love. Alongside his natural expressiveness, he impresses with his brilliant classical technique in his variations and reliable partnering skills.
 

In the 2024/2025 season, he became a permanent guest of the NDM ballet company. Since the 2025/2026 season, he has been a member of the NDM ballet ensemble as a corps de ballet with soloist obligations.
