Shakespeare’s puzzling piece about the four lovers Hermia and Lysander, Helena and Demetrius, together with the fairy king Oberon and queen Titania, and ultimately about the elf Puck, who seems to have his fingers in every pie, is one of the most popular comedies in world literature.

The scene is set in a forest and the director Youri Vámos presents it as an unknown land, a land of nobody without any boundaries between man and nature. A young man and woman meet in the forest at night –unaware that they will become victims of the charms and spells of goblins and witches. Very soon they find themselves in a tangle of unexpected feelings. Youri Vámos recreates this original Shakespeare play as a ballet comedy portraying two chaotic worlds – the world of men and the world of spirits. He moves from the classical and the imaginary world of fantasy to the present, to today’s world of young people and their love affairs. It is a story that could happen to any of us.
