Šárka is the third symphonic poem in the cycle Má vlast by composer Bedřich Smetana, completed on February 20, 1875. It tells the story of Ctirad and Šárka from the legend of the Maidens' War through musical means.

“I imagine Šárka as a work of aesthetic clarity, contrasted by intense rawness. Šárka, a warrior woman, symbolizes resistance against male tyranny. These women fight for freedom—like Icarus—drawing a parallel to Jiří Kylián’s Wings of Wax. The theme of Šárka resonates deeply with me, as a female choreographer who believes in the strength and values of women.”
