Giselle remains one of the defining works of the 19th-century Romantic ballet tradition, captivating audiences to this day with its lyricism, haunting music, and deeply emotional story. This production combines the refinement of classical ballet with a sensitive contemporary perspective, bringing together technical brilliance, musicality, and a strong visual and dramatic atmosphere. As choreographer Andrea Helander Kramešová explains: “Giselle is rooted in the Romantic tradition, but its themes are universal and continue to speak to audiences today. Love, betrayal, and forgiveness are emotions we all understand.”

Created for Ostrava audiences, this new staging respects the essence of the classic while offering a fresh, emotionally vivid take on one of the great jewels of the ballet repertoire.
