OVERVIEW

One of the most famous fairy tales ever inspired Sergei Prokofiev to write a ballet full of beautiful dance scenes. The premiere of Cinderella took place at the Bolshoi Theatre on 21^st November 1945.

In charge of the ballet performance is Paul Chalmer – a Canadian dancer and choreographer – who cooperates with significant European ballet ensembles, such as Stuttgart, Monte Carlo, Rome, London, or Leipzig.

Paul Chalmer’s dancing technique based on neoclassical style gives an impression of lightness and elegance, and what is more, it is perfectly in harmony with the music by Sergei Prokofiev. The stage design and costumes by Anna Kontek from the Finnish National Opera beautifully create the atmosphere of the fairy tale about a modest and hard-working Cinderella and her way to happiness in spite of all traps set by her evil stepmother and two lazy stepsisters.
