This ballet evening explores femininity in all its dimensions – tender, fiery, rebellious, and powerful. It opens with a duet using music from Stravinsky’s Firebird, choreographed by Marco Goecke – a meeting of two shy creatures that sparks a relationship full of tension and yearning for closeness. Next comes Šárka by Leya Bessoudo Greck, choreographed to Smetana’s symphonic poem of the same name – a portrayal of resistance and desire for equality. The evening concludes with Jiří Pokorný’s acclaimed Carmen – a thrilling story of passion, betrayal, and death in a modern industrial setting. The love triangle of Carmen, José, and Lady M is an impressive finale to the program united by the theme of inner strength and the struggle to become oneself. |
